Our Story
Listed by one Forbe's study as the fastest growing suburb in the United States, Frisco has grown over 1500% since the year 1990. Seeing the need to plant a church that will help serve the people of this community, the leadership of the Southwest Church Planting Network (Presbyterian Church in America) and the North Texas Presbytery first contacted Jamie Peterson in April 2008 and asked him to consider the possibility of planting a church in Frisco, Texas. After much prayer and seeking the counsel of others, the Peterson's decided that God was indeed leading them to head a church planting effort in this rising community.
While Frisco is flourishing in many obvious ways, there is still a tremendous void that needs to filled in the lives of many of its citizens. Many people often move to a suburb like Frisco to find happiness in more affordable housing, great shopping, good schools, countless recreational opportunities and a safe place to raise a family. While such things are to be considered blessings for those who have them, none of it will last and we will always be craving more. There will always be a bigger, better house to be had, more stuff to be bought, a more prestigious school for your children to attend, and newer opportunities for fun.
King Solomon, who lived almost 1,000 years before Christ, had as much, it not more possessions and pleasure than anyone who ever lived. Yet, at the end of his life he stated, "Then I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had expended in doing it, and behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind, and there was nothing to be gained under the sun." In a similar fashion, Jesus said, "For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?"
Our purpose for being here is to see God raise up a great church that addresses such issues and points us to the only way of true happiness and significance.
